Create a Chalkboard Planner
These are perfect for in the kitchen or in a bedroom. Use chalkboard paint on an off-cut of wood, and customise it however you wish. Kitchen meal planners are the fashion at the moment: especially with everyone’s healthy eating New Years Resolutions. They can help you keep healthy and plan ahead! You can also create similar planners for in bedrooms and study rooms. Whether it be or children planning out their homework, or adults trying to organise their lives.
The chalkboard effect gives a classic, inter-changeable look, that you’ll never get bored of.
Upcycle Old Furniture
Everyone likes to give their home a new look for the new year. Repainting old furniture is one of the most common home improvement ideas, and you’ll be amazed at how easy it is to do. Bright colours are coming back into fashion, with Lime and Ink Blue leading the pack.
If you don’t have any old furniture, you can always revamp some flat-pack furniture. Sometimes it can be quite bland, and in need of a bit of life. The great thing with this method, is that you know the furniture is in good condition when you begin, and flat packs are usually quite cheap.
There are a lot of different styles when it comes to upcycling. Get as creative as you like! Go chic with Chalky, or vibrant with neon. Or just brighten it up with an injection of colour.
Revamp your BBQ
I know Winter’s not yet over, but it’s never too early to get ready for Summer. British Barbecues are eternally cursed by the rain, which means they get weathered and need a bit of brightening up. When this happens people often go and buy a new one, but there is a much cheaper and easier way.
There are plenty of options for Stove and BBQ paint to get creative with. It is heat resistant, withstanding heats of up to 650°C and also provides rust protection to help keep the surface safe, even in the British weather.

Redesign your Frames
Frames are often left as they’re bought, and not thought of again. But they’re ideal to compliment and balance a room Whether they’re picture frames, or a frame on a mirror, they’re the perfect to lift the look of your home.
You can give them a new lick of paint to coordinate with your rooms colour scheme. And they’re so simple to do! All you need to do is prime the frame, and choose your topcoat. There is a vast array of colours in the Painters Touch Range; or for a more classic look, try the metallic range.
If you’re feeling extra creative, mix and match and let your artistic flair speak for you.
Colour your Utensils
Got a lovely colour coordinated kitchen? Take it 1 step further and customise your utensils to match. Or brighten up a usually bland area with an array of colours.
Most people going for this look have tried our MODE spray paints to get the desired new, glossy effect. As these utensils are then used for cooking the high gloss finish is helpful in keeping the handles free of dirt and food debris that are common issues in the kitchen. the glossy finish also gives the accessories the bright sheen that is common in kitchens.
I would only recommend it for on the handles of utensils, as some paints don’t mix well with food (although there are industrial options available if you do need something that’s food safe!).
Draw-able Tables
A great idea for Children is to have a table that they can draw onto. It saves them from drawing over the rest of your home! The Chalkboard Paint is ideal: it creates a fun and easy surface to draw and write on, and chalk comes off children’s clothes very easily.
The other option is to use a product such as Doodle Wall, and create a whiteboard surface for the children to draw onto with whiteboard pens. The downside with this option is that the ink from the pens could go onto clothes when someone leans on the table, so it is more suited to older children or teenagers.
These tables are good fun, and let kids get on with being creative.
Last but not Least . . .
Amazingly, there are so many things that you can do with an old pallet or crate. You can usually get them for free if you don’t already have one knocking around your shed. They’re ideal for creating a new storage space, or even for creating a new outdoor piece. As you can see from the picture, all it takes is a little bit of outside the bx thinking.
The best thing about it is that because it is so cheap and easy to do, there are no limits as to how far you can stretch your creativity. This person created a bar, perhaps you need a decorative platform for your potted plants, or you want to create a sandbox play area for your kids. Let your imagination run wild.
Since pallets and boxes are generally unattractive to look at before they’re painted, we recommend bright colours to inject some life into them. Neon or fluorescent paints are great for this. But if that doesn’t appeal to you: Fassilux is great for on wood, and it can be tinted to any colour that you can think of.
Get creative everyone, and please send us photos of your finished projects!
