Colour is a beautiful thing. This is why it may surprise you to learn that the most common colour we get asked for is grey. Don’t get me wrong, we have more shades of grey than I can count, and they are all beautiful in their own right. But when we work with 70,000 colours it just seems that people are missing out. To show everyone the joy of colour, we have compiled projects from around the internet to show the majesty of colour.
Colour makes the world go round
In a world dominated by social media everyone is looking to stand out; but some are more successful than others! We work with all kind of customers looking to do all kinds of projects. But some of these go beyond what we could have imagined.
Burano, Italy – Island of Lace
Although Burano is typically known for it’s production of fine lace, it has a beautiful array of coloured buildings. Burano is among the ton 10 most colourful cities in the world, and you can definitely see why when you look at it! It’s a small island off Venice, where the houses are all vibrant and colourful. Each house is painted a different colour from its neighbours, and anyone who wants to paint the exterior walls need to get approval from the government.
The vibrant colour scheme has been going on for decades. We can all think of areas that could do with a bit of brightening up. They could do with taking a leaf out of the Italian’s book. A nation sometimes known for its flamboyant style, showing us the brilliance of pure and simple colour.
Reversible Density Lofts – Tokyo, Japan
These stunning and also probably unique lofts are based near the suburb of Mitaka. The group is comprised of nine apartments in this complex. They have uneven floors and rounded walls, awkward light switches, power sockets in the ceilings, and also no cupboards. Some of the units are available for short-term rent!
The jazzy colour scheme is continued throughout the whole building, as you can see from this view of the interior. The architects say “Treat each room as if it were you yourself, as if it were a direct extension of you.”. Which is the perfect description of this feat. Not only is the architecture sublime, but they have used bold expressive colouring . These are flats that simply refuse to blend into the background.
Roy Nelson Beach Huts – Barry Island
Us here in Britain have even tried to inject some colour into our lives. These beach huts, which are also available to rent, demonstrate using colour to brighten a landscape. As well as being know for its entertainment and its pleasure park, Barry is also known for being quite rainy. Having these bright, vibrant colours brightens up even the dullest day.
