Quality Brands featuring: Rust-Oleum.
If you’re familiar with our website then you may have noticed it’s heavily biased towards Rust-Oleum. There is a very good reason. Rust-Oleum products are technically superior and high quality. Whether you need furniture or craft paint; cladding or heat resistant paint; Rust-Oleum’s range covers the lot, and more.
Origin Story
Rust-Oleum is an American company that began when in 1921 by Robert Fergusson (a sea captain) noticed that fish oil, which spilled on the rusty metal decks of his ship, stopped corrosion from spreading. Fish and whale oil has now been replaced by a combination of alkyds, polyurethanes etc. But the rust fighting capacities are still unbeatable.
Rust-Oleum was a family owned business until the mid 1990s. Now, it is owned by RPM International, and it has grown even further. Now, it’s used worldwide for its high quality.
Andrews Coatings were the first ever distributors in the UK, and are proud to have brought such a great brand over here.
Did you know Rust-Oleum. . . .
It is commonly known that Rust-oleum paint was used on such projects as the Golden Gate Bridge in California, using Pegalink and Noxyde. But it is less known, that shortly after Rust-Oleum was brought to the UK, Andrews Coatings used Rust-Oleum to paint the Bay Bridge in San Francisco.
The bridge has been around since 1936, and it has held up well. However the busy suspension bridge was subject to a massive reconstruction project in 2002, and the reconstruction spanned across 11 years. When it was finished, it was recognised as the widest bridge in the world.
Rust-Oleum’s products were used on the impressive steel-work, and we supplied them with Noxyde. Noxyde is unrivalled in its rust-proofing, corrosion and waterproofing protection properties. It offers more than 15 years’ protection in the highest corrosion class C5-M.
Closer to home . . .
Now of course, since it has come to this country,Rust-Oleum has done some very impressive jobs. In particular people are drawn into the fact that you can have your chosen paint in whatever colour you may want. There are over 70,000 colours to choose from; but if like the Palace of Westminster none of them are to your liking, then we can create a new colour specially for you.
To perfectly match a colour that was already in use at Westminster we had to stray from the traditional colour charts. They knew that they wanted a high quality paint, which is why they chose 7500 Alkythane. But try as they might they couldn’t find what they needed in the traditional colour charts.
Fortunately, many of the Rust-Oleum products are fully tint-able, and so we were able to customise a colour.
On our Doorstep . . .
We are based in Wolverhampton, and from our office we can see the Molineux Football Stadium. Home to the Wolverhampton Wanderers. It is known for it’s iconic golden metalwork, and brightly coloured stadium.
This has been painted with a combination of Galva Zinc aerosols and Combicolour. This has provided them with a high quality finish for a good number of years, despite it being in an area with a high likelihood of exposure and damage. However they are soon going to be upgrading to a more durable system, the 9100 solvent based epoxy.
This will give them a bright and clear look for years to come.
