Directions for Use
Before application, ensure the pool surface is fully prepared, clean and completely dry. New concrete should be allowed to cure for a minimum of 28 days and moisture content must be below 7% before painting.
For concrete swimming pools, thoroughly clean the surface using a suitable degreaser and prepare using an acid etch solution to remove laitance and create a strong key for adhesion. Bare concrete should then be primed using a thinned coat of Coo-Var Swimming Pool Paint diluted by approximately 10–15% with Swimming Pool Paint Thinners.
Previously painted plaster or rendered surfaces should be cleaned thoroughly and checked for compatibility. Any unstable or failing coatings must be removed before application. Porous plaster surfaces can also be sealed using a 10–15% thinned primer coat of Swimming Pool Paint.
Metal surfaces should be cleaned and degreased prior to coating. Prime all prepared metal areas using Teamac Metaclor Underwater Primer before applying Swimming Pool Paint.
Apply the coating evenly by brush or roller at the recommended spreading rate of approximately 14m² per litre. For best results, apply a minimum of three coats in total, allowing 24–48 hours between coats where possible. Avoid over-applying the product and do not paint in direct sunlight, damp conditions or when rain is expected.
After the final coat has been applied, leave the pool for a minimum of 14 days before filling with water to allow the coating system to fully cure.
Important:
- Leave the final coat for at least 14 days before filling pool with water
- Ensure good ventilation for indoor pools
- Do not apply in direct sunlight or damp conditions
If applying by roller, lay off with a brush to prevent trapped air bubbles.
