AndCoat WD – High-Performance Water-Dispersed Epoxy Coating
AndCoat WD is a high-solids, water-dispersed epoxy coating designed for floors and walls. Environmentally friendly and user-safe, it contains no solvents and emits very low odour during application. It can be easily applied by brush, roller, or airless spray, providing a decorative, abrasion-resistant, and chemically durable finish.
Key Features:
- Low odour
- High solids content coating
- Excellent adhesion to concrete
- Easily applied by brush, roller, or spray
- Water-based
Surface Preparation
To be assured of maximum adhesion and best properties from Andrews Coatings products the correct surface preparation is essential. The concrete substrate must be a minimum
of 28 days old and the residual moisture content must be a maximum of 75% RH. The substrate should be sound with a minimum compressive strength of 25 N/mm2 and a minimum pull-off strength of 1.5 N/mm2. The surface must be clean, dry and free of contaminants such as dirt, oil, grease, coatings and surface treatments and contain a functioning damp proof membrane. If in doubt, apply a test area first. Concrete substrates should be mechanically prepared using vacuum enclosed abrasive blast cleaning or diamond grinding equipment to remove laitance and previous surface treatments followed by thorough vacuuming leaving an open textured surface. Weak concrete must be removed and repaired using recommended products.
Technical Data
Coverage: Typically 6–8m² per kg, depending on surface
Recoatable: After 6–8 hours
Colour: Clear/Available in various colours upon request
Available in: 5kg, 10kg, 20kg
Shelf life: 12 months
Directions for Use
Apply by brush, roller or airless spray onto the prepared surface at a nominal rate of 0.125 to 0.165 kg/m2 per coat, equivalent to a dry film thickness of 60 to 100 microns. A minimum two coat application is recommended, with subsequent coats after a minimum interval of eighteen hours curing. Ensure good ventilation after application, as this speeds up the physical drying stage of the curing process. The ambient temperature and relative humidity of the works area should be a minimum of 15°C <65%RH during the application and curing period, if not adhered to this can affect the colour, appearance and performance of the system. Materials and substrate temperature must be above 10°C at all times.
Note: Spray trials MUST be undertaken to ensure compatibility between the product and available equipment, before undertaking a project.
Suitable Primers
AndCoat WD can be applied directly onto suitably prepared concrete substrates or used in conjunction with compatible epoxy primer systems where required. Recommended primers and accompanying systems include:
- AndPrime WD – Water-dispersed epoxy primer designed to improve adhesion and substrate sealing prior to coating application.
AndCoat WD may also be used as a sealing and wearing coat within multi-layer epoxy flooring systems. For enhanced durability, chemical resistance, or slip resistance, additional coats or aggregate systems can be incorporated depending on service conditions.
For best results, all subsequent coats should be applied within the recommended overcoating window and onto clean, dry, uncontaminated surfaces.
