Watco Concrex Fine Filler is a two-part epoxy paste for small concrete repairs before painting. Use it to fill chips, scratches, bolt holes and surface blemishes that can become more noticeable under a new floor coating, particularly a gloss finish.

The components mix into a grey repair paste that presses easily into minor defects and can be feather-edged for a smooth transition. It suits floors and vertical surfaces, indoors or outside, and needs no primer. Mix small quantities as you work through scattered damage, rather than opening a large batch for a handful of shallow repairs.

Surface Preparation

Remove dust, grease, oil and contamination. The surface must be sound rather than loose or friable. Clean exposed steel reinforcement back to bright metal. Slight surface dampness is acceptable, but do not apply to wet surfaces.

Identify chips and scratches before coating and work the filler into each defect. For damage deeper than 5mm, use Watco Concrex Carbon Fibre or build the repair in layers as described in the technical sheet.

Technical Data

  • Pack size: 1.5kg twin pack, producing approximately 1 litre of mixed filler.
  • Type: two-part epoxy resin paste.
  • Mixing ratio: 1:1 by weight or volume.
  • Application thickness: up to 5mm; can be feather-edged.
  • Working life: 10–15 minutes at 20°C; 20–30 minutes at 10°C.
  • At 20°C: overpaint after approximately 1 hour, foot traffic after 3 hours and heavy traffic after 16 hours.
  • Full hardness: approximately 4 days at 20°C.
  • Supplied with gloves, spreader and two spatulas.

Directions for Use

Take equal portions of the off-white resin and black curing agent using the supplied spatulas. Mix on a suitable board until the paste is an even grey, with no streaks. Wear the gloves supplied and prepare only what you can apply within the working life.

Press into the damage with the plastic spreader and smooth flush. Wiping the scraper with a cloth dampened with white spirit makes finishing easier. Clean spills and tools before the filler cures. Once hardened, the repair can be painted with a suitable Watco coating or left as a wearing surface.

Limitations

Cure times increase in cooler conditions: at 10°C, allow approximately 2 hours before overpainting, 6 hours before foot traffic and 24 hours before heavy traffic. Full hardness takes around seven days at this temperature. Plan the coating and reopening schedule accordingly.

Store unopened packs at 10–30°C, protect from freezing and use within the 12-month shelf life. Remove food products during application and curing. Yield is given as mixed volume because coverage depends on the number, size and depth of the defects.

Product FAQs

Is a primer needed?
No primer is required. Apply to a clean, sound substrate; slight dampness is acceptable, but the surface must not be wet.

Can I mix only part of the pack?
Yes. Mix equal portions of resin and curing agent by weight or volume until uniformly grey. Prepare small amounts that can be applied within the working life.

How much filler does one pack make?
The 1.5kg twin pack produces approximately 1 litre of mixed filler. Area coverage depends on the depth and shape of the defects.

How soon can I paint the repair?
Allow approximately 1 hour at 20°C or 2 hours at 10°C before overpainting. These are initial-set times; heavy traffic and full hardness require longer.
