Watco Concrex Sub Zero is a polyaspartic concrete repair mortar for damaged floors in freezers, cold stores and unheated industrial areas. It cures at temperatures down to -20°C, making it a practical choice for repairs where ordinary mortars would struggle to harden.

Use it to fill holes, restore worn concrete and repair damaged edges on concrete, metal and sand and cement screeds. The resin, curing agent and blended aggregate form a trowel-applied mortar that can be finished flush with the surrounding surface. Its mid-grey finish suits a wide range of working floors, from chilled storage areas to exposed maintenance spaces.

Surface Preparation

Remove loose material, dirt, grease and contamination. Wire brush and sweep the repair until the substrate is clean, dry and sound. Pay attention to the sides and base of holes so the mortar can bond to a firm surface.

A primer is not normally required for rough holes. Use Watco Tack Coat Sub Zero for smooth surfaces, thin screeds, intricate repairs and areas subject to high impact, such as step nosings. Follow the primer's instructions before applying the mortar.

Technical Data

  • Pack size: 10kg; colour: mid-grey.
  • Composition: three-component polyaspartic resin repair mortar.
  • Coverage: approximately 1.2m² per pack at 5mm thick.
  • Normal application depth: 5–50mm.
  • Minimum application temperature: -20°C.
  • Working life: approximately 30–60 minutes, depending on temperature.
  • Typical cure: 48 hours at -20°C, 16 hours at 0°C and 5 hours at 15°C.
  • Shelf life: 12 months in unopened containers.

Directions for Use

Mix the two liquid components thoroughly, then combine with the aggregate on a suitable mixing board. Work the materials together until the colour and consistency are uniform, with no unmixed pockets.

Press the mortar firmly into the prepared repair, compacting against the edges. Finish with a steel float or trowel. Wiping the blade with white spirit helps reduce drag. For repairs deeper than 50mm, build up in layers and allow each layer to cure before continuing.

Limitations

Feather edges only where the main body of the repair is at least 5mm thick. Coverage depends on repair depth and surface profile; deeper holes require proportionately more material. Allow for slower curing at lower temperatures before returning the area to service. Store between 10°C and 30°C and protect from freezing.

Product FAQs

Can Concrex Sub Zero cure in a freezer?
Yes. This grade is designed to cure at temperatures down to -20°C. Typical curing time at -20°C is 48 hours; allow suitable time before putting the repair back into service.

Does it need a primer?
Rough holes do not normally need priming. Tack Coat Sub Zero is recommended on smooth surfaces, for thin screeds and for intricate or high-impact repairs such as step nosings.

How much area will one pack repair?
A 10kg pack covers approximately 1.2m² at 5mm thick. Coverage decreases as the repair depth increases.

Can I fill a hole deeper than 50mm?
Build repairs deeper than 50mm in layers, allowing each layer to cure. The normal application depth is 5–50mm.
