Watco Bitu-Mend Advanced is a heavy-duty asphalt repair mortar for potholes, damaged work areas and worn surfaces exposed to forklift, lorry and HGV traffic. Its epoxy resin and granite aggregate formulation is designed for demanding repairs where a conventional bitumen-based patch may not offer the required durability.

Apply at depths from 10mm to 100mm to repair holes, splits and damaged asphalt in car parks, loading bays and gangways. It can also be used on concrete. The trowel-applied mixture can be worked around edges and into crevices, then compacted to create a firm repair with a hard, black, slip-resistant finish.

The range of applications includes bedding and fixing roller shutter door guide rails, repairing trip hazards and resurfacing worn local areas. Prepare each repair to a sound base and use Watco Tack Coat primer, as required by the technical sheet. Correct priming, thorough mixing and compaction are important parts of the repair system.

Choose Advanced for heavy-use repairs within its stated depth range. If the hole is deeper than 100mm, Bitu-Mend Deep Fill offers application up to 200mm. Both products need a curing period before traffic returns, so plan the work around the operating temperature and the access needs of the area.

Surface Preparation

Remove loose material, oil and contamination from the void. The substrate must be sound and preferably dry; slight damp is acceptable. Prime prepared surfaces with Watco Tack Coat before applying the repair mortar.

Technical Data

Size / Colour 25kg / Black
Composition Epoxy resin, curing agent and graded granite aggregate
Application depth 10–100mm
Coverage Approximately 1m² per pack at 15mm
Working time Approximately 30 minutes at 10–20°C; shorter in warmer conditions
Traffic At 10–20°C: foot traffic 8–12 hours; heavy traffic 12–24 hours
Shelf life 12 months, unopened

Directions for Use

Mix the curing agent into the resin thoroughly using a wide-bladed tool. Immediately combine the mixed liquids with the granite aggregate, coating every particle. Place the compound into the void, work it into gaps and lightly tamp with wood to remove air pockets. Finish with a trowel.

Limitations

Keep the repair within the stated thickness range. Allow the required curing time before traffic returns; lower temperatures extend it. Store above 10°C and protect from frost. Remove food products from the work area during application and cure. Read the technical and safety sheets before use.

Product FAQs

Does Bitu-Mend Advanced need primer?
Yes. Prime prepared surfaces with Watco Tack Coat as specified in the technical sheet.

Can it take forklift and lorry traffic?
It is designed for heavy-use areas including loading bays and car parks. Allow the full heavy-traffic cure time before reopening.

What thickness should I apply?
Apply 10–100mm. For deeper holes, choose Bitu-Mend Deep Fill instead.

What is the coverage and cure time?
Allow approximately 1m² per 25kg at 15mm. Heavy traffic can return after 12–24 hours at 10–20°C; cold conditions slow curing.
